Lumina Universal Adhesive

Lumina Universal Adhesive is a neutral-cure, one-component silicone for PVC and acoustic panels and wall decor; it sets to a flexible, weather-resistant layer.

There used to be two separate adhesives in the range. The manufacturer merged them, because they were the same product under two names. The neutral cure does not attack the back of the panel, and the flexibility follows thermal movement, so the joints do not open up.

Technical features

• Pack size: 300 ml cartridge, for use with a caulking gun
• Recommended quantity: 1.5 cartridges per PVC panel, 1 cartridge per acoustic or decorative panel
• Bonds to PVC, glass, aluminium, stone and tiles
• Temperature resistance: from −40 to +150 °C
• Mould-resistant and UV-resistant, for indoor and outdoor use
• Contains no harmful solvents

Installation

Apply it to the back of the panel in dots or a wavy line, then press the panel onto the wall and slide it once by 1–2 cm so the adhesive spreads. On old tiles a bonding primer is recommended; on dusty walls, a primer.

Frequently asked questions

How many cartridges do I need for a wall?

For PVC panels, allow one and a half cartridges per panel; for acoustic and decorative panels, one. So a PVC wall of three sheets needs five cartridges.

Does the same adhesive work for acoustic panels too?

Yes. The manufacturer supplies a single adhesive for both; only the quantity differs: an acoustic panel is lighter, so one cartridge is enough.

Does the panel need support while the adhesive sets?

On a flat, clean wall usually not, but with a large sheet it is safer to wedge the bottom edge during the first hour of setting.
