WPC fence boards

A WPC fence board is a 180 mm high profile pressed from a blend of wood fibre and polymer, fixed to a box-section frame to build the fence. It does not rot or splinter and needs no staining: the colour runs through the material. Three finishes, 20 colours, lengths of 3–5 metres.

Finish and colour

Choose the finish first: it decides whether your fence will be modern and single-coloured, subtly grained or boldly wood-grained. Then choose the colour. The image shows the board you select.

How is the fence built?

The boards are not load-bearing: they go on a frame built from 40 × 40 × 2 mm iron, steel or aluminium box section, with posts no more than 80–100 centimetres apart, in sections of up to 5 metres. The board is 180 mm high, and we leave a gap of at least 4 mm between boards for thermal expansion (±2 mm per metre), so one metre of fence height takes 5–6 rows.

The boards can be laid horizontally or vertically. We pre-drill every screw point (a 5.5–6 mm hole for a 4.8 mm screw), at least 30 mm from the edges, and never fix the board rigidly. The edges of the section are closed with an aluminium U-profile and the cut board ends with an end cap; install in dry weather, at +15 °C or above.

The colour runs through the material, not just the surface: in the first 3–6 months the surface lightens by 5–10% and the colours settle. Maintenance means cleaning once or twice a year with warm soapy water and a brush; no painting or staining needed.

Accessories for your fence

Alongside the boards, these four items complete the fence. Each is available matched to the board colours.

Aluminium U-profile

Holds the boards next to the post and finishes the section; available in several lengths, matched to the board colours.

We price them together with the boards in your quote.

Stainless bimetal screw

Stainless fixing to a steel box section (Ø 4.8 × 38 mm), with a head painted to match the boards; pack of 50. It goes into a pre-drilled 5.5–6 mm hole so that the board can move.

We price them together with the boards in your quote.

Gate hinge bolt + nut

For through-bolting gates and more heavily loaded sections, with a head painted to match the board colour.

We price them together with the boards in your quote.

End cap

Seals the cut end of the hollow-core board: tap it in with a rubber mallet, and glue it for a lasting finish; on vertical boards only at the top, the bottom stays open. Pack of 10.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a WPC fence board cost?

At list price incl. VAT, the sanded WOW Fine is 2 500 Ft/m, the brushed WOW Noble is 2 950 Ft/m, the 3D wood grain woodbe Spirit is 3 240 Ft/m. The price of a 3, 4 or 5-metre board can be worked out from these. When you request a quote, we give you the current price for your quantity.

How many boards do I need for one metre of fence?

The board is 180 mm high, and we leave a gap of at least 4 mm between boards for thermal expansion, so one metre of fence height takes 5–6 rows. For a 5-metre section, that means one 5-metre board per row, with no cutting waste; the board may overhang the supporting frame by no more than 5 cm.

What is the difference between the sanded, brushed and 3D wood grain finishes?

The sanded finish is even, with no wood pattern, so it gives a modern fence with a uniform surface. The brushed board has a fine pattern running lengthways, along the grain, which breaks up the light without a pronounced wood grain: it is the middle ground between the two. The 3D wood grain board has deep wood grain running its full length and looks like wood even up close; it comes closest to a traditional timber board fence.

Does a WPC fence need painting or staining?

No. The colour runs through the board rather than sitting on its surface, so it does not flake or wear off. In the first 3–6 months after installation the surface lightens by 5–10% and the colours settle; this is a natural property of the wood fibre content. Maintenance means cleaning once or twice a year with warm soapy water and a brush, without bleach or ammonia.

What kind of frame do the boards go on?

On a frame built from iron, steel or aluminium box section (40 × 40 × 2 mm), with posts no more than 80–100 cm apart, in sections of up to 5 metres. We fix the boards with stainless screws driven into pre-drilled holes (5.5–6 mm for a 4.8 mm screw), at least 30 mm from the edges, never rigidly, so there is room for thermal expansion. The edges are closed with an aluminium U-profile, and the board ends with end caps. The board is not a load-bearing element; it may only be used as fence cladding.

What warranty does it come with?

Every WPC DECK fence board comes with a 1-year full warranty, plus a further 10 years against rot caused by fungi or pests, provided you register the purchase within 60 days and the fence is built according to the installation guide. The warranty covers the system components; corrosion of fixings that are not stainless and installation that does not follow the instructions are not covered.

Can I see the colours in person?

Yes, the Woopla showrooms in Budaörs and Békéscsaba keep a sample of every colour. The shade you see on screen always differs from the real surface, so it is worth handling the board before you decide.
