WPC decking

WPC decking is a walking surface pressed from a blend of wood fibre and polymer and fixed with hidden clips: it does not splinter or rot, and it does not need oiling every year. We quote it as a system: decking boards, joists and fixings in one price per square metre.

Finish and colour

The finish decides the character of your terrace and how well it grips; the colour decides how it sits next to the house. The image shows the profile you select.

WOW™ Fine WPC decking, Anthracite colour – product photo

Anthracite · anthracite grey, sanded finish

A reversible profile with two different patterns: one side is finely sanded, the other ribbed. You decide before laying which side faces up, so the same material gives you two different terraces.

How is the terrace built?

From the bottom up: a solid, slightly sloped base (reinforced concrete, a gravel bed, a metal grid or a timber beam frame), with rubber pads or levelling feet on top, then the joists no more than 30 centimetres apart, doubled where boards are joined, and finally the decking. We fix the joists with stainless screws at no more than 50 cm intervals. The whole system is 54 mm high, so it fits even under a low threshold.

The profiles are fixed with hidden steel clips: the clip grips the side groove of the profile, so there are no screw heads on the walking surface, and the clip also holds the 5 mm joint. This joint is not decorative: WPC moves about ±2 mm per metre with heat, and the joint has to absorb that, while at corners and wall junctions at least 10 mm is left. We put a clip wherever a joist meets a board, and use only original system components.

The edge of the terrace is finished with an edge trim fixed from the side, which hides the profile ends and the substructure. Maintenance means cleaning once or twice a year with warm soapy water and a brush; in the first 3–6 months the surface lightens by 5–10%, after which the colours settle.

Let us work it out together

Bring the dimensions of your terrace, or even a phone photo of the site, and we will tell you how many square metres of system you need, which board length gives the least waste, and what the material will cost. You can also handle the profiles in our showroom.

Accessories for your terrace

The joists and fixing clips are included in the system price; you only need them separately if you are extending, edging or maintaining your terrace.

WPC joist

The substructure the decking sits on, with joists no more than 30 cm apart and doubled where boards are joined. The system price already includes 3 m of joist per square metre; for level differences over 5 mm you need a structural joist.

We price them together with the decking in your quote.

Steel fixing clip + screw

Hidden fixing: the clip grips the side groove of the profile, so no screw heads show on the walking surface. The clip also holds the 5 mm joint. You need one wherever a joist meets a board; the warranty requires the original steel clip and screw.

We price them together with the decking in your quote.

Edge trim (L-profile)

Finishes the edge of the terrace: it hides the profile ends and the substructure, in a shade that matches the decking. It is fixed from the side onto joist brackets, with pre-drilling.

We price them together with the decking in your quote.

Rubber pad and levelling shim

Under the joist: the rubber pad dampens sound and separates the joist from the base, while the levelling shims (every 25 cm) take up level differences of 1–4 mm.

We price them together with the decking in your quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a WPC terrace cost?

The system price incl. VAT is 24 845 Ft/m² for the sanded WOW Fine and 28 511 Ft/m² for the 3D wood grain woodbe Spirit, at list price. You can work out the material cost of a 20 square metre terrace from this. When you request a quote, we give you the current price for your quantity.

What does the price per square metre include?

The complete system: the decking boards, the joists that go with them and the hidden fixing clips with screws. Per square metre that is 6.66–6.9 linear metres of decking, 3 linear metres of joist and 18 steel clips: no need to add up the components separately.

What base can it be laid on?

We have a worked-out build-up for four types of base: reinforced concrete, a gravel bed (geotextile, gravel, edging), a metal grid structure and a treated timber beam frame. On concrete and gravel, rubber pads go under the joists; on metal and timber structures, adjustable levelling feet. The joists run no more than 30 centimetres apart, and the base should be solid, even and slightly sloped for drainage.

Is a WPC terrace slippery when wet?

The 3D wood grain woodbe Spirit has R10 slip resistance and grips even when wet. On the reversible WOW Fine profile, the ribbed side gives more grip and the sanded side a smoother walking surface; you decide before laying which side faces up. In sunshine the surface warms up; this is a normal property of the material, due to its plastic content.

How much does the material move with heat?

Thermal expansion is about ±2 mm per metre, so we leave a gap of at least 10 mm at board ends, wall junctions and corners, and a 5 mm joint between the profiles. The clip fixing allows for this movement; a clip must be placed wherever a joist meets a board, and only the steel clip and screw designed for the system may be used.

Does it need oiling or sanding?

No. Unlike a timber terrace, WPC needs no staining, oiling or sanding. It needs cleaning once or twice a year: soak thoroughly with water, scrub with warm water and soap or washing-up liquid and a stiff brush, then rinse; do not use bleach or ammonia. In the first 3–6 months the surface lightens by 5–10% as the colours settle; this is not a defect.

What warranty does it come with?

Every WPC DECK terrace system comes with a 1-year full warranty, plus a further 10 years against rot caused by fungi or pests, provided you register the purchase within 60 days and the decking is installed according to the installation guide. The warranty covers the system components and their use together; the details are in the warranty certificate.
