Artificial grass · By use
Artificial grass for balconies and terraces
Artificial grass for a terrace is a water-permeable lawn laid on your existing paving, with no drilling and no demolition. For a large terrace, a full 4 m wide roll is the best value; for smaller areas, we cut it to size, or you can choose from our project remnants.
Recommended types for terraces
Softer, lusher models suit a sun terrace; shorter-pile ones suit a practical surface. All can be ordered cut to size or as full rolls; for a small area, it is worth looking through the project remnants too.

An afternoon’s work
How to lay artificial grass on a terrace
When laying on paving, there is no groundwork and no base: most terraces are done in a single afternoon. Even large areas can be covered from the 4 metre wide roll with minimal joins, and at the edges you cut it to fit on site.
It also works well in a rented flat: the tape fixing can be removed without a trace, and the grass can be lifted and laid again when you move.
- 1
Measure the area: a large terrace calls for a full roll; for a smaller one, we cut it to size, or you can choose from our remnant pieces
- 2
Clean dust and grease off the paving, then let it dry
- 3
Unroll the grass and let it rest for a few hours so that it flattens out
- 4
Cut it to size with a craft knife along the edges and the railing
- 5
Fix the edges and the joins with double-sided TAPEFIX tape
- 6
Brush up the fibres, and your green terrace is ready
Frequently asked questions
How do I fix artificial grass on a terrace?
On level, clean paving, double-sided fixing tape along the edges and the joins is enough; there is no need to drill or apply adhesive. This way it can also be removed later without a trace.
Does rainwater drain away from under the grass?
Yes: 60 litres of water per square metre pass through the drainage holes in the backing every minute. The existing fall of the paving carries the water away, and the grass dries quickly.
What should I buy for a balcony or a small terrace?
For a small area, we also cut to size, or you can choose from our project remnants: pieces in set sizes and in unused condition, at a discount while stocks last. Call us and we will tell you which types we have in stock and in what sizes.
Does it need sand on a terrace too?
Usually not when laid on paving: in garden installations on a prepared base, sand infill holds the grass steady. On a windy, exposed terrace, what matters is fixing the edges carefully.
